Samburu Game Reserve, Buffalo springs & Shaba game Reserves:

These three adjoining game reserves and located in what is referred to as the northern frontier districts of Kenya. They are found north of the equator a few hundred kilometers from iconic Mt. Kenya. Served by the 700km sandy Uaso Ngiro River and natural springs which gives life here, this is classified as a lowland area, so generally hot, arid and dusty. It is also extremely scenic, with ravine areas dominated by acacia and doum palms. Also of interest are the volcanic rock cones and craggy hills, which spread through certain areas of the park. Special five of Samburu: Samburu as it is commonly referred is home to special species of 5 animals mostly found here. Namely; the long neck gerenuk, The Somali ostrich, the gravy zebra, reticulated giraffes and the beisa oryx. There are also numerous species of birds found in these reserves
